Harayana cop has a narrow escape as cattle smugglers try to run over him

Written by : PTI

A sub-inspector of police had a narrow escape in Haryana on Saturday when some cattle smugglers carrying bulls in a truck tried to run over him on National Highway near Ambala, police said.

The smugglers also tried to hit the motorbike of a cow protection organisation's team, chasing them from Haryana- Punjab border.

Acting on a tip-off that some smugglers were taking cattle from Moga in Punjab to Muzaffarnagar, a team of Baldevnagar police station led by sub-inspector Om Prakash had put a barrier on the highway.

When the police team tried to intercept the truck of the smugglers they broke the barrier and attempted to flee, even as SI Om Prakash had a narrow escape. The police team followed and nabbed them near model town crossing.

SHO of Baldevnagar police station Dinesh Chauhan said that two persons Imran Khan and Irfan Khan along with the driver of the truck were arrested and a case under relevant provisions of the law was registered against them.

Police have recovered 12 bulls from the truck, he said, adding the truck has been impounded.
