A policeman in Turkey faces investigation as he was caught taking a selfie even as a man prepared to commit suicide from a bridge behind him.

The inaction of the selfie-obsessed cop sparked a fury in Turkey as he was seen posing for a snapshot just a few feet away from the bridge from where the man jumped to his death.

Just a few seconds after the selfie, the 35-year-old man who was later identified as Sadrettin Saskin leapt almost 600 feet to his death.

"A full investigation into the officer's conduct is ongoing. Any breach of duty, identified, will be disciplined," Turkey police spokesman Maksud Calik was quoted as saying.

It was Saskin's third suicide attempt, Calik added.

"Highly trained negotiators were trying to talk him into coming back onto the bridge when he suddenly let go and fell," the police spokesman noted.

Saskin was said to have been struggling with money problems, The Mirror reported.
