The Bruhat BengaluruMahanagara Palike (BBMP) spent Rs 2 lakh in the last six months to control rodents, states a report in The Times of India.

However, it was only able to trap 20 rats, i.e Rs 10, 000 per rat, at BBMP's head office in NR Square and IPP building in Malleswaram. This came to light after N R Ramesh, a Yediyur corporator, filed an RTI.

The amount was paid in installments to contractors under the 'Mooshika Nirvahane' plan.

Around two years ago, BBMP begun renovating some of its offices after employees found a dead rat in one of the cupboards. Ramesh also found that BBMP had spent more on a few things while renovation. He then wanted to know how much BBMP had spent in 6 months.
