In addition to the already existing voice calling feature, popular online instant messaging platform WhatsApp is rumoured to roll out video calling in its upcoming updates.

Macerkopf, a German tech portal reported that a leak suggests unlike other video calling apps which utilize only the front cam on mobile devices, users will be allowed to opt for both cameras for video-calls.

The Facebook owned mobile messaging platform now has more than 900 million monthly active users and with the video calling feature will be on par with Facebook’s  Messenger which already has video-calling.

Macerkopf also reports unlike other updates, this feature will be first tested on the next IOS update and will be later updated on Android devices.

The video calling feature is expected to hurt the only video calling apps like Microsoft’s Skype and Apple’s Facetime and a huge gain for Facebook.

It is also rumoured that the messaging platform will come up with multi-chat tab/windows which will help users switch between conversations easily.

There is no official confirmation from Facebook about the dates when these features will be available.

Earlier, WhatsApp had added the voice-calling feature in April, 2015.
