The News Minute | June 5, 2014 | 12:15 PM IST A special Air India flight with 183 people on board, including the 46 nurses freed by insurgents in Iraq, arrived at Kochi International airport at 11:56 AM on Saturday morning. Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was waiting at the Kochi International Airport along with the families of the nurses to receive them.Oommen Chandy was accompanied by a number of legislators from Kerala. Chandy said to the media that the Central government co-operated with the state government fully. "We got 100 percent result, I am happy" Chandy told the media. He thanked External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for all efforts made to bring back the nurses to India. Many families at the airport was seen reiterating again and again that they are not sending their loved ones back to Iraq again. The flight includes the 46 Indian nurses from Kerala whose fate in strife-torn Iraq had kept the entire nation on tenterhooks for the past few days.Some reports said that many nurses protested at the Erbil airport, saying they won't board the plane unless they are paid their four months' arrear salary. They finally agreed to board the plane after some officials convinced them. The Air India flight took off earlier from Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan, after the nurses were freed by the insurgents following intense Indian diplomatic efforts.With inputs from IANS
