62-year-old man dies after Cong MP Jyotiraditya Scindia's car hits scooter in Kerala

A 62-year-old man in Kerala’s Alappuzha district died, after a BMW car with Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia inside, hit his scooter on Wednesday.

The victim was declared brought dead on being rushed to the hospital by Scindia and his driver.

Police told The News Minute that the accident occurred at 11:30 am in Pattanakad on the NH-66 highway.

Police have taken the driver, Umesh into custody. A case has been filed under Section 279 (rash driving) and 304 A (death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

The BMW vehicle has also been seized, police added.

The victim has been identified as Saseendran, a native of Pattanakad in Cherthala in Alappuzha district.

The body has been sent for postmortem at Cherthala Government Hospital.

ANI reported that the former union minister escaped unhurt.

The Congress leader tweeted that he was going to meet the family of the victim.

Scindia was reportedly on his way to attend an award distribution.
