University in Kerala installs software to prevent research students from cheating

The News Minute | November 23, 2014 | 12:05 pm ISTThe Calicut University of Kerala has decided to install a software to prevent students from cheating.To prevent the doctoral (PhD) students from copying content from published theses, the university has set up a software in all its 32 departments, Manorama Online reported.The software was initially provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to the university to be installed in its library. But, the university Vice Chancellor has ordered that the software be installed in all the departments.The order by the Vice Chancellor has come in the wake of reports that the Pro Vice Chancellor of the university Dr. V Veeramanikandan had submitted his research thesis in 2009 by copying content from earlier researched theses.
