Two youths arrested in KFC attack in Palakkad; police raid homes and find Maoist literature

The News Minute | December 24, 2014 | 10:40 am ISTTwo college students (21) were arrested on Tuesday and remanded into judicial custody on charges of attacking a KFC outlet in Palakkad. The youths have been identified as Sreekanth Prabhakaran and Arun Balan, both of who were members in a rural wing of the CPI(M)According to a report in The Indian express, they were booked under various sections if the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) following which the police raided their house and claimed to have found pro-Maoist literature and a knife. Both families said that, what the police found were just a few books and Sreekanth’s father added that the knife was the one used in the kitchen. The police too, are yet to find a link between the students and a gang allegedly operating in the forest.On Monday, Mc Donalds restaurant, KFC Chicken Outlet in Palakkadand forest offices in Attappady were vandalized.
