The News Minute| August 22, 2014| 10.00 am ISTThe Malabar Syro Church or Syrian Catholic church has decided that all its priests can now give permission to families to perform cremation of bodies instead of only burial.In a meeting held in Kochi on Thursday, the Malabar Syro Church council decided to give the power to approve permission for cremation to priests. Prior to this, it was the only the Major ArchBishop who had the authority to provide permission to families to carry out cremation. However, now after rising problems in space allocation, the practice has been altered.
