Written by : TNM Staff

A police officer who investigated the case of film actor Sreejith Ravi, who allegedly flashed a few school girls in Ottapalam, has been suspended for allegedly trying to cover up the case.

Rajashekharan, a civil police officer in Ottappalam station was suspended, and three other officers including a Sub Inspector are likely to face action soon.

Earlier Ottapalam sub-collector PB Nooh had said in a report that the police had shown laxity in the case.

“I was directed to begin an inquiry on 31st August, and preliminary inquiry does show that the police officers tried to protect the accused by discouraging the parents when they lodged the complaint,” the sub-collector had told The News Minute.

Moreover, the police did not name the actor while filing the FIR claiming that the name did not feature in the complaint.

The police inquiry was based on the complaint filed by the Principal of the school where the girls study.

The school authorities and the victims’ parents had complained to the District Collector that the police had not taken proper action.

The actor was granted conditional bail by the Palakkad Additional District Sessions Court after he was arrested for allegedly exposing his genitals to girl students, while they were going to school.
