Sree Narayana Guru's tableau in the rally was carelessness from the party, says Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has admitted that  party should have been more careful while depicting a social reformist like Sree Narayana Guru in public events.
On September 5, at Kerala CPI(M)’s Onam celebration rally, one of the tableaus had featured a man dressed like Sree Narayana Guru being crucified, with two men hammering nails to his hands. It had created a huge controversy.

“In this tableau presentation there was carelessness,” Kodiyeri said according to Media One report.

However the report says that the state Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan said it was just a representation to sound an alert about growing religious radicalism in the state.

Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) General Secretary Vellappally Nadeshan told media that CPI(M) has officially become like Judas (the disciple who betrayed Jesus for thirty coins) as they have crucified Guru.

He also added that Kodiyeri should have admitted it as a mistake from the party rather than calling it carelessness.
The BJP has taken umbrage to this and has called the CPI(M) tableau a vulgar incident.
