Pinarayi alleges UDF candidate bribed voters in Pattambi

Written by : TNM Staff

As the countdown for Kerala's assembly elections have begun, candidates seem to have turned social media into the new battle ground.

CPM polit bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday took to Facebook to allege UDF candidate CP Mohammad of bribing voters in the Pattambi constituency of Palakkad and posted a video as ‘evidence’.

“For the fear of losing the election, UDF has now resorted to woo voters by giving them money,” he wrote in his post. He further appealed to the election commission to look into the matter.

However, CP Mohammad responded to the allegation and said that he “merely shook hands”.

“I merely shook hands during the campaign. There is a cancer patient in that house. It was me who initiated the transfer of money to the cancer patient from Chief Minister’s relief fund. There is no need to give money to the family for getting votes. I merely consoled him by holding his hand,” he was quoted as saying.
