Recently, a photograph of ace director Priyadarshan, went viral on social media and messaging platforms like WhatsApp. The picture showed the director amongst a crowd jostling to get a water bottle from a van that was seemingly distributing relief materials in Chennai.

Many messages were being circulated  along with the picture. One such message said,

“You might know that man... fighting in the crowd just for a bottle of drinking water.... this is what life is”

Another message said, “Tragedies teach us big lessons. Priyadarshan owns assets worth crores of rupees, but after the Chennai floods, he was struggling to get a bottle of drinking water given by some NGOs .”

If the reality had been this dramatic, perhaps it would have made for a good movie. But in reality the film maker was actually a part of group of actors who were distributing relief materials among flood affected people of Chennai.

Priyadashan along with other volunteers was distributing food and water among the victims.

Media reports say that the director did all relief activities without publicizing it. Manorama News has released a video of Priyadarshan distributing drinking water in Chennai.
