The mystery note: Did VS Achuthanandan demand plum post in Kerala cabinet?

Written by : TNM Staff

CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has reportedly said that it was VS Achuthanandan who handed over the piece of paper where party positions were written to him.

The whole row began when a photograph taken by Manoj Chemancheri of Malayala Manorama showed VS Achuthanandan holding a piece of paper during Pinarayi Vijayan’s swearing-in ceremony.

On zooming in, it was found that the note contained positions in the CPI(M) party.

“Advisor to government with cabinet rank and chairman of the LDF. Inclusion in to state secretariat,” reads the paper.

Earlier it was reported that the paper was handed over to VS by Sitaram Yechury offering him the mentioned positions in the party.

But in a twist on Thursday Sitaram Yechury has clarified that the paper bit was given to him by VS, reported Malayala Manorama.

So was VS demanding these posts in return for giving up the Chief Minister position?

Other reports suggest that VS’s son Arun Kumar wrote the note on his behalf as it was in English.
