On learning of the arrest of the person believed to be Jisha’s killer, her sister Deepa says the family is heartened by the news but responded cautiously.

“I am happy to hear the news. Hopefully it is true. But let us wait for confirmation,” Deepa told reporters on Thursday.

Jisha, a law student, was murdered brutally after being raped over a month ago. Jisha’s mother Rajeshwari, severely traumatised by the murder of her daughter, has been admitted in the Kuruppampady Taluk Hospital ever since the murder.

“My mother is the one who has gone through the most traumatic experience. If it is true, it will come as a great relief to her,” Deepa added.

In the days following the murder, several theories, often planted by a clueless police, were doing the rounds.
