A class 9 student of Madavur CM School was stabbed to death on the school premises in Kozhikode, Kerala on Friday.

The crime occurred at around 7.30 in the morning and the accused has been identified as 31-year-old Shamsudheen from Kasargode district.

“The motive for the crime is yet to be determined. But it is believed that he was provoked when Abdul Majeed opposed him with some bad intentions,” Kunnamangalam police told The News Minute.

Abdul Majeed is the son of Mammootty of Manathavadi in Wayanad, the neighbouring district of Kozhikode.

He was studying at a madrassa in Madavur and was staying in a hostel run by it.

“The crime happened near a mosque compound. Other students of the madrassa saw the student who was attacked by the man. He was pronounced dead though he was rushed to hospital,” police added.

Shamsudheen was caught by the locals and police have taken him into custody.

On reports that Shamsudheen is mentally challenged, police are yet to confirm this.

The body of the deceased has been kept at the Government Medical College Hospital Kozhikode and an inquest is in progress.
