The News Minute| July 9, 2014| 7. 10 pm ISTThere was a time Kerala was synonymous to bandhs...soon it became the land of hartals. Even today, at the slightest of dissent, crowds descend on roads, pelting stones at private and public property.People in God’s Own Country have traditionally been Brazil lovers. The football crazy state had been rooting for Brazil this World Cup Seems like Brazil, is emulating the Kerala’s example of protesting on the roads. Reports say that mobs burnt down several buses in Brazil and an electronics store was looted in Sao Paulo after the home team’s defeat to Germany.A Brazilian newspaper, Folha De Sao Paulo reported that some 20 buses have been set on fire already. These were parked in a garage for unused vehicles. In other parts of the city, three buses have also been reportedly set ablaze. So there- Kerala and Brazil has one more connection, not just football.
