Home Minister of Kerala Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday wrote in his Facebook wall that no cases will be filed against people who kill dangerous and rabies-infected dogs.

The Facebook post says, “I am also an animal lover, I love to nurture them but in Kerala the situation is dangerous that rabies infected dogs attack people. It adversely affects the daily life of common man, so we cannot be inactive.”

Minister adds, "There is nothing wrong in killing dogs that attack people and infect victims with rabies. No action would be taken against those who do so," assuring that no cases will be charged against people who kill violent dogs.

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) had recently asked the Kerala Home department to take action against 'Theruvu Naaya Unmoolana Sangam'  (stray dog eradication group) and businessman  Kochouseph Chittilappilly  who announced reward for this group.

Chittilappilly had also announced a 24-hour hunger strike protesting against the inefficiency of authorities in controlling the stray dog menace.
