Two days after the Kerala HC slammed the state government for appointing Tomin J Thachankary as Additional DGP at the police headquarters ahead of Senkumar’s reinstatement as DGP, Senkumar has alleged that the former is smuggling out secret files.

The state police chief has alleged that 12 confidential files in the ‘T’ Branch, the confidential section of the police headquarters, against Thachankary were missing. He even alleged that Thachankary himself had removed them.

Thachankary responded by saying that ‘T’ Branch had some files against Senkumar as well and many other top police officials.

Thanchakary reportedly submitted a confidential report to Home Secretary Subrata Biswas stating that the DGP had ulterior motives in summoning secret files from the ‘T’ section, reports The New Indian Express.

The report quotes Senkumar as saying,” What power does the ADGP have against me. It is learnt that 12 files having adverse remarks against Thachankary are missing. He must have removed the files when I was about to verify them. It is the prerogative of the DGP to summon files from any section.”

The DGP was not aware of any confidential report filed by the ADGP against him. The report quotes Thanchakary as saying, “There are reports in the 'T' Branch against many top officials including the DGP. No one can remove the files from confidential section. The allegation is baseless.”

It was on May 4 that Thachankary replaced Anil Kant in a major reshuffle in police as ADGP at the police headquarters.

This came just two days before Senkumar assumed charge as DGP following a Supreme Court order to reinstate him.

The posting of Thachankary, who does not have a clean track record, at the police administrative centre, had raised many eyebrows.

It was suspected as a move to keep tabs on Senkumar who returned to the DGP post after a 11-month long legal battle with the state.

Senkumar is to retire from service on June 30.
