Kerala BDJS member found hanging at CPI(M) office, NDA calls for hartal

A Bharathiya Dharma Jana Sakhyam (BDJS) leader and  former CPI(M) member was on Monday found hanging at CPI(M) office in Paravoor in Kochi.

47-year-old MC Venu, BDJS general secretary was found hanging from the ceiling of CPI(M) local committee office near Moothakunnam at around 6pm on Monday.

The NDA has called for a hartal in North Paravoor on Tuesday.

Venu, who was an active CPI(M) member quit the party last year and joined BDJS and is reported to have worked for BDJS during the assembly elections.

The Times of India reports that he quit the party after the party leadership fielded another candidate from Vadakkekara in gram panchayat elections.

Alleging that Venu had been receiving threats ever since he quit CPI(M), leaders of NDA and BDJS has demanded a detailed investigation into his mysterious death.

The New Indian Express reports that the police suspect that Venu committed suicide due to personal issues and that a detailed probe will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death.
