Kerala Union of Working Journalists on Tuesday organised a march protesting against some advocates who allegedly used abusive words against legal reporters at the Kerala High Court media room in Kochi.

KUWJ leader and Ernakulam Press Club president Ravikumar alleged that some advocates on Tuesday hurled abusive words at legal reporters for covering a case related to an alleged attempt by a government pleader to molest a woman here last week.

It all began when a group of lawyers called out a Deccan Chronicle reporter from the courtroom and showered abuses as he had done a by-line story on the issue of government pleader Dhanesh Mathew Manjooran, an accused in a molestation case. They allegedly pulled him down the stairs, pushed him out of the court campus and threatened him to not write any more against Manjooran, The New Indian Express reports.

Later on Tuesday evening, while a group of Journalists were sitting inside a room to write a complaint against the attackers, a few advocates rushed into the room and allegedly kicked a senior reporter of Asianet News.

A legal reporter has complained to the Acting Chief Justice about the incident in the High Court media room, Ravikumar said, after organising a march of journalists towards the High Court Advocates Association's office here.

He also alleged that some advocates tried to create trouble during the march.

The government pleader was arrested last week on the charge of allegedly attempting to molest the woman on a city lane.

Manjooran was apprehended on July 15 by locals after the woman raised an alarm. He is currently out on bail.
