The News Minute| September 9, 2014| 10.00 am ISTDifferences within the Kerala unit of the BJP were out in the open, in the presence of PM Narendra Modi on Monday during the 152nd birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Ayyakali at the Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.   The birth celebrations of Mahatma Ayyakali, a dalit social reformer of Kerala, was jointly organized by the Kerala Pulayar Maha Sabha and the Scheduled Caste Morcha of the BJP.   The function was attended by the Prime Minister, BJP’s Delhi chief Satish Upadhyay, BJP’s Kerala chief V. Muraleedharan and others. A video put out by Reporter TV shows that as V. Muraleedharan was walking to his seat after completing his inaugural address, a member of the BJP, later identified as Purushottaman, shouted in protest saying that Kerala BJP’s General Secretary A.N. Radhakrishnan’s name was not mentioned in the address. Purushottaman, when asked later by the channel, declined to comment on the issue. However, he admitted that there could have been some issues within the Kerala unit and some sections could be unhappy. Some of the internal problems were already made known to the BJP national president Amit Shah when had visited Kerala last week. That such a protest was marked in presence of the PM has caused much embarrassment to the Kerala unit. It is being said that disciplinary action could be initiated against Purushottaman and others who caused such embarrassment.
