The News Minute | June 23, 2014 | 9:32 AM IST To mark their protest against the state government's failure to keep its promises to the Endosulfan victims, the public forum for endosulfan-affected is all set to launch an indefinite hunger strike in front of the state secretariat here on Monday. The Forum's president T Sobha and secretary Ambalathara Krishnan says that the state government failed to fulfill the promises made after the strike it conducted in front of the Chief Minister's residence last January. Then the government agreed to give the victims the financial assistance recommended by the national human rights commission. Reports suggest that the government only gave assistance on installment basis in 15 panchayats. More than 5000 people in 27 panchayats and also form three corporation wards were found to be struggling with health problems that are connected with the use of Endosulfan.Many promises were made last January, including that the debt of these farmers would be written off, and that the Justice Ramachandran Nair report which the forum think is unfair, would be rejected. But the government failed in its mission.
