E-waste collection to begin in Kerala soon

The News Minute | October 30, 2014 | 10.15 am ISTKerala government has decided to hand over e-waste management to Clean Kerala Company Ltd. The company will collect the e-waste from all private and public organizations at a rate of 5 rupees per kilogram in Kerala.Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhy Ali said an agreement has been reached with the company so that the drive can commence from November 4 onwards. The government has directed government, private and public sector institutions to hand over e-waste to Clean Kerala Company and it is also decided to arrange a mobile e-waste collecting vehicle to serve this purpose reports The New Indian ExpressAs per the reports collected e-waste including discarded computers, laptops, TVs, photocopiers, scanners, radios, tape recorders, washing machines, refrigerators, grinders, mixers and iron boxes will be handed over to the Earth Sense Recycle Private Limited at Palakkad. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Clean Kerala Company MD Kabeer B Haroon and Earth Sense Recycle Limited CEO John Robert in this regard.
