Congress ally in Kerala tells CM to have talks with state BJP

Written by : TNM

The News Minute | May 22, 2014| 4:29 PM IST After Left backed candidate actor Innocent said he believes the BJP will not create religious polarisation, another voice from Kerala has spoken in support of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This time, it is not just an opinion, but a demand that PC George, the chief whip of Kerala assembly and a member of Kerala Congress (M), an ally in the UDF government has put across to state Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. PC George has said that Chandy must hold talks with the BJP leaders in the state. Why? Well, George says that if the Congress led United Democratic Front is in good terms with the "new" Centre, the state might be able to put some pressure to get a positive outcome for the issues that are plaguing the state now like the price of rubber and the Gadgil report. George further added that the Congress's defeat this election was pathetic. Reports suggest that George's criticism of the Congress comes after an article he wrote against the latter's defeat in a newspaper.
