Certainly a deshbhatkt, but not a Modi bhakt, says Kanhaiya Kumar in Kerala

Former JNU Students Union President Kanhaiya Kumar said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweets alone will not bring development to the nation.

According to reports, he was speaking in Thiruvananthapuram, after inaugurating the conference against communalism and imperialism organized as part of the AIYF state conference at Putharikandam.

“Merely tweeting sitting in his office or waving at the people will not bring development to the nation,” Kanhaiya Kumar said.

Attempts to portray one’s love for the nation (Deshbhakti) as love for Modi (Modibhakti) are being made in the country, he added.

“I am certainly a Deshbhakt, but I am no Modibhakt. And we will fight against your attempts to replace the love for the nation with the love for Modi,” he said.

Taking a dig at the BJP government’s Skill India programme, Kanhaiya called it “Kill India” and said that people who criticize the government and communalism are being termed as anti-nationals.

"It is not Skill India, it is Kill India that is being implemented in the country," Kanhaiya said.

Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “Prime Model”, Kanhaiya accused the PM of politicizing even the surgical strikes. He also cautioned the people of Kerala against the repercussions of BJP opening account in the state.
