New Year has been ushered in Kozhikode on an unpromising note, with a fight between a group protesting against increasing incidents of moral policing, religious intolerance and the Hindu extremist group Hanuman Sena.

On Friday morning, a group named ‘Njattuvela’ had gathered in the streets of Kozhikode to stage a ‘kiss in the street’ protest. Later, following a clash between the Hanuman Sena activists and Njattuvela protesters, police arrested the protestors.

Njattuvela has been organizing protests against Fascism through several modes including skits, songs and dances.

The group has told the media that they conducted this program to remind all that the fight against fascism in Kerala has not ended with the arrest of the ‘Kiss of Love’ organisers, Rahul Pasupalan and Resmi R Nair.
