Family members of 38-year-old Ayisha from Mysur, who was found dead recently, have alleged that it was at the behest of religious fanatics that her husband killed her.

Times of India reported that, on returning from home from their college, Ayisha’s son Najim and daughter Nazia found their mother dead. Their father tried to convince them that she committed suicide.

 The duo informed the Metagalli police about the death and that they suspected their father’s hand in the murder. The police arrested 46-year-old Amjad, who is a mechanic.

According to the newspaper report, Ayisha was the daughter of Moidu and Fathima who belonged to Kallubane village in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district. She had been married to Amjad from the same taluk at the age of 14 years. The family shifted to Mysuru ten years ago.

Speaking to TOI, family sources told that the Amjad indulged in performing homas and vaastu rituals frequently. He believed in the rituals so deeply that, on the advice of vastu consultants he would often change the doors of his house, which would irritate Ayisha. Frustrated with his activities, Ayisha, who was a homemaker, asked him to stop.

TOI quoted one of Ayisha’s relative saying, “He was a good mechanic, but his blind beliefs made him cruel to his family.”
