Twitter users troll Karnataka BJP over stance on Cauvery water release, #ModiMosa trends

Written by : TNM Staff

A day ahead of the special joint session of the legislature called to debate on the release of water to Tamil Nadu, Twitter users have been creating memes and trolling the Karnataka BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

For several hours on Thursday, the hashtag ModiMosa trended in Bengaluru on Twitter. The term ModiMosa roughly translates to “Modi’s deception”.

Most of the ire was directed at the Karnataka BJP’s stance on the Cauvery issue. The BJP has maintained that the Prime Minister should not intervene in as the Cauvery dispute was an inter-state issue. Everyone from state president BS Yeddyurappa and below has categorically said that the centre should not intervene. The BJP then went on to boycott the all-party meeting on Wednesday, saying that nothing had come of the previous such meeting. Read more about it here.

Apart from targeting the state BJP, many of these tweets were also directed at the Prime Minister.

Among the tweets were a series of memes targeting the state BJP, the PM, and also highlighting the general sentiment over the issue. Several of these memes were created by a Twitter handle called Logical Kannadiga. Many of these memes are also circulating on Facebook:
