Top stories from Karnataka: Bar Council demands Lokayukta's resignation over internal corruption

 1. The Karnataka Bar Council on Monday passed a resolution seeking the resignation of Lokayukta Justice (retd) Y Bhaskar Rao after allegations of his son being involved in the internal corruption case surfaced. The AAP too filed a complaint against Ashwin Rao, and a man who allegedly posed as a Lokayukta official named Krishna Rao and allegedly sought bribes from officials. 2. After the state government agreed to comply with the Supreme Court order to conduct BBMP polls by August 5, it has once again moved SC seeking postponement of elections as it requires time to complete the delimitation of wards as per the 2011 census.  3. The first day of the 10-day legislature session at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi saw a heated exchange inside the House as well as outside, as farmers protested outside, demanding payment of dues. Opposition demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah step down as he failed to solve the crisis.  4. The Central Investigation Department (CID) on Monday filed an interim charge-sheet before the Judicial Magistrate First Class against Pari-Rajan, the alleged kingpin of illegal lottery racket. Though the State government had handed over the case to the CBI, it is yet to take up the case. 5. Three farmers took their lives on Monday while four others attempted suicide in various parts of Karnataka. While two ended their lives as sugar factories had failed to pay to them dues, another farmer committed suicide after he suffered  heavy loss due to poor crop yield.
