Written by : TNM

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) sealed the office of Joint Commissioner, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Syed Riyaz and the conference room at the Lokayukta office on Saturday, reported Deccan Herald. The team questioned a few staff members at his chamber pertaining to the internal corruption case. The officials also met in-charge Registrar of the Lokayukta, MS Balakrishna. The Registrar has been directed by the team to inform them when Riyaz reports to work.Riyaz had sought leave earlier to visit Mecca and on his return, wrote a letter seeking extension of leave citing ill-health. The registrar’s office has asked Riyaz to submit original air tickets immediately as SIT officials suspect that he is misleading the police by not submitting his passport.“Since he (Riyaz) has submitted only photocopies of air tickets, a letter has been sent asking him to produce the original tickets. Unless we get confirmation that he has come back, no decision will be taken on his letter seeking extension of leave,” an official was quoted as saying by the paper. The officials have also collected service-related documents ever since Riyaz was appointed to the Lokayukta and later his promotion to the post of PRO and subsequently as Joint Commissioner.A few staff members were also transferred and replaced by newly posted officials on the second floor of the office as it holds the offices of Justice Rao, the PRO, registrar and deputy registrar. Some of officials have been on deputation for more than five years, the report added.
