The News Minute | January 6, 2014 | 3.25 pm ISTTwenty-two stray dogs and thirty crows allegedly died after consuming poison laced food thrown at a street side in a Bengaluru locality on Sunday, states a report by the Hindu.The discovery of the carcasses of the animals and birds strewn around in Ranganatha Colony reportedly triggered communal tension in the area.The report goes on to say that this resulted in a clash.Although additional police forces helped to deal with the clash, the Deputy Commissioner of Police Labhu Ram had to resolve the matter by holding a peace meet between the two communities.According to the report, this tussle started when a resident of Ranganatha Colony lodged a complaint against unidentified individuals for poisoning the animals. The J.J. Nagar police have registered a case under Section 428 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for mischief by killing or maiming an animal and Section 284 of the IPC for negligent conduct with respect to poisonous substance.The Animal Husbandry department has sent the carcasses of 5 dogs and 5 crows to the Veterinary College in Hebbal for post mortem examination which will reveal the exact cause of death.
