Written by : TNM

The Minister of Information and Public Relations, Roshan Baig, along with a team of three other members, has travelled to Cannes to presumably study how to market Kannada films there.Bangalore Mirror reported that the visit has been made to benefit Bengaluru’s film festival, BIFF.The other three members include the Principal Secretary of the Information Department, N Nagalambika Devi, Director of the department, Vishu Kumar and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) President, SV Rajendra Singh Babu. The newspaper also reported that a similar proposal, to attend the Festival de Cannes, was sent to the Information Department last year but it was shot down. This year however, the team plans to learn from one of the biggest international film festivals in order to bring similar changes to the Bengaluru International Film Festival.Indian films don’t make it to the Cannes easily, but this year, a Hindi short film Sadak-Chaap, made by Mysuru-born and US-based filmmaker, Anvita Sudarshan, will be screened on Saturday.Read more at: Roshan Baig visits the festival to study the market
