Mandya achieves Swachch Bharat Abhiyaan target, orders construction of additional 40,000 toilets

By October 2014, the district had completed the set target of 31, 425 toilets and has announced the construction of an additional 40,000 toilets, reported Deccan Herald.The credit of completing the goal well in time goes to CEO of the Zilla Panchayat Rohini Sindhuri who gave priority to this scheme soon after her appointment. The officer stressed on the needs of toilet and sanitation in every household each time she made a trip to government schools and hostels.Teachers were given the responsibility of identifying students whose homes lacked toilets to create awareness among parents. Anganwadi and Asha workers too supported in this mission, she said.She undertook a holistic policy of keeping the district in-charge, nodal officers and panchayat development officers updated on a fortnightly basis to.
