A 14-year-old school girl killed herself on Saturday at Mandya in Karnataka, accusing her teacher of being responsible for her death.

Bhavani, a student of Class 8 at a private school in Mandya district of Karnataka, was found hanging from the ceiling of her residence in Nagamangala town, say reports.

After completing her primary education from a government school, Bhavani had only recently joined a private school in the town.

According to The Times of India, the girl had scribbled the name of her former teacher in her palm, accusing Yashodamma, the teacher at her previous school, of being responsible for forcing her to take the extreme step.

Bhavani's mother Nagamma told the newspaper, “My daughter often told me that Yashodamma kept harassing her. Bhavani told me that Yashodamma often accused her of theft, and also passed lewd remarks in front of her classmates, besides restricting my daughter's movements in the school premises.“

A few of Bhavani's classmates, who spoke to TOI too, seem to have shared the same allegations. A student told media persons that the teacher Yashodamma used to target Bhavani unnecessarily targeting her, even accusing Bhavani of stealing money at one instance.

The Nagamangala Town police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating. The police told The Hindu that they will seek the help of handwriting experts or science laboratory personnel in the investigation.
