K'taka Lokayukta office door set ablaze, police suspect attempt to destroy files

Unknown miscreants set ablaze the main door of Lokayukta office at MS building on Tuesday night.

The incident came to light when a passerby noticed the fire and informed the fire and emergency officials at around9.30pm on Tuesday.

According reports, a team of personnel reached the spot next to Vidhan Soudha to douse the fire. The police conducted a detailed probe at the spot and they also registered a suo motu case.

Police said that waste papers and cloth were used to set the door on fire and that two policemen were inside the building when the incident took place.

The New Indian Express reports that the police suspect it to be an attempt at destroying certain files and documents. However, no documents were reportedly destroyed in the fire.

Reports say that there were no CCTV cameras outside the building.

“We had asked Lokayukta officials to install CCTV cameras outside the building but it's yet to be done,” a police official told TOI.
