A 19-year-old college student in Bengaluru was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly stabbing his father to death.

According to reports, 45-year-old Shivashankar was a drunkard, who used to return home in an inebriated state and assault the family members.

Revanth was disturbed with his father continuously assaulting his mother, and had reportedly tried to convince his father many times in the past against doing so.

However on Tuesday, he allegedly stabbed his father in a fit of rage.

After returning home in an inebriated state, Shivashankar- who is an interior decorator- reportedly began to assault his wife. The assault that started late on Monday night went on till the wee hours of Tuesday.

Shivashankar threw his wife and two sons out of the house and Revanth then allegedly stabbed his father twice with a knife.

Though Shivashankar was rushed to a nearby hospital, the doctors declared him brought dead.

The Hindu reports that Revanth attempted to hide the crime at the hospital by saying that his father had injured himself. The hospital staff informed the police who then detained Revanth.

The police told The Hindu that Revanth had confessed to the crime. He is reportedly a student of Rajajinagar college.
