The News Minute | December 26, 2014 | 09:15 am IST A shoot-at-sight order has reportedly been issued by the state forest department for a tiger that reportedly killed a pregnant woman in the Khanapur taluk on Wednesday. According to a report in The New Indian Express, it is suspected that the woman was killed by the tiger when she had gone out to a stream to fetch water. The villagers later went looking for the woman named Anjana, and found her mutilated body. The incident is said to have created panic in the village and some even protested saying they would not allow the authorities to perform a post mortem unless necessary steps were taken to ensure their safety. The villagers later withdrew their protest and allowed for the post mortem to be performed. The Forest department will give a compensation of `5 lakh to the kin of the woman, adds the report.
