The IPS Officer’s Association on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution, supporting the state government’s decision in suspending Alok Kumar over the lottery scam.The meeting was headed by president of the association R P Sharma, reported Bangalore Mirror.  In the three-hour-long discussion, it was reportedly agreed by every member that a person is unfit for policing when despite being a deputy commissioner of police in the city for three years, deputy inspector-general in CID for over a year, joint commissioner (crime) for three years, and additional commissioner of police (law and order) for a year, he claims to not know of a person’s dubious background.This remark was in direct reference to Alok Kumar’s claim of not knowing lottery kingpin Pari Rajan’s history, despite their friendship of a few years.A participant told the newspaper that not a single IPS officer defended Alok Kumar on his suspension.“Each speaker requested the association to pass a resolution to condemn the connections (if any) between anti-social elements and police officers, regardless of who they could be. A resolution along similar lines was then passed unanimously,” a participant was quoted as saying.Sharma also urged all the members to do their job with all conviction and sincerity. He also warned his members to “cleansing themselves before it was too late.”
