Written by : TNM Staff

A Class 9 student died under mysterious circumstances at her residential school on Thursday and her family has alleged that she was murdered.

The girl, a student of Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential school in Ambarkoppa village in Shivamogga district, died on Thursday morning.

Her uncle Suresh has written to the Deputy Commissioner and jurisdictional Sharipura Rural police station, alleging that they suspect murder.

In his letter, Suresh said that he got a call from school officials at around 7am, telling him that Chetana* had fallen and injured herself, and that they were taking her to the hospital. He said that by the time the family reached the hospital, she had died and that she had injuries on her head. The school’s unsatisfactory answers had led to suspect that she had been murdered, he said.

Shivamogga Superintendent of Police told The News Minute that the police were in the process of booking a case of murder, and that investigation would reveal whether the suspicion was true or not.
