Girish Karnad appears before court in plagiarism case

The News Minute | September 23, 2014 | 09:45 am ISTJnanpith awardee and noted playwright Girish Karnad appeared before a magistrate court in Bangalore on Monday.Karnad was accused of plagiarism by Gopala Vajpayee, a writer who had filed a complaint against Karnad. The case was filed quite a few years ago by Vajpayee alleging that Karnad had used his poem in his famous play 'Nagamandala', without permission.The complainant has also alleged that Karnad did not give him credit for writing the poem.Deccan Herald reports that Karnad has asked the court more time to record his statement.
