Demand for legalisation of sex work in Karnataka

The News Minute | September 2, 2014 | 2.07 pm ISTA number of people – including writers and Dalit groups – are set to ask Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to pass a law that would legalise sex work in Karnataka.This demand is to be made at the “janata darshana” programme which is being held by Chief Minister in Bangalore on Tuesday to meet people and listen to their grievances. Among those making the demand are journalist and writer Agni Shridhar, writer Indudhara Honnapura, Dr. Venkataswamy, Dalit leader Mavalli Shankar.The reason for their this demand is still not clear and more details are awaited.
