Almost a month after a woman filed a case against Indian cricketer and her friend Amit Mishra for allegedly assaulting her on September 25 in a hotel in Bengaluru, the woman has reportedly decided to withdraw the case and settle the matter amicably, said PTI report.

Times of India reported Police sources as saying that the woman wants to withdraw the complaint once Mishra comes to the city and does not want to make a big issue out of it.

The newspaper report said that Mishra is currently in Chennai and has responded to the police’s notice through an sms saying that he would come to Bengaluru next week for the investigation into multiple cases of alleged assault. 

TOI quoted the woman as saying, "I am waiting for Mishra to appear in the police station. We both will amicably withdraw the case. We were friends. We fought, and continue to remain friends hereafter."

A case was registered at Ashoka Nagar police station against the cricketer for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means and assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty two days after the incident.

The Indian leg-spinner allegedly attacked the woman, who is well known to him, after a verbal altercation. Based on the 34-year-old woman’s statement to the police, he was angered as she had entered his room without permission. He allegedly hit her with an electric kettle and squeezed her neck until she suffocated.

Thirty-two-year-old Mishra, who is currently representing the country in the international odi series against South Africa, had come to Bengaluru for the conditioning camp ahead of the India South Africa series, when the alleged incident took place, said the newspaper report. Mishra is now in Chennai.
