BBMP official allegedly assaulted by man claiming to be D K Shivakumar supporter

The News Minute | November 12, 2014 | 12.12 pm ISTA BBMP official was assaulted on Tuesday, allegedly by people claiming to be supporters of Engery Minister D K Shivakumar.According to a TV9 report, Work officer Thimmegowda at the BBMP office near Ganesh temple in Warn Number 165 in Kathriguppe layout was assaulted by a group of people after which he had to be hospitalized. TV9 reported that one Shivkumar needed a permit from the BBMP for the renovation of the house, but went ahead without one. BBMP had issued a notice to him a month ago. Based on instructions from senior officials, Thimmegowda pasted a notice on his door and took a photograph of it. On learning of this, Shivkumar and his supporters turned up at his office and abused him in obscene language claiming to be a supporter of D K Shivkumar. When Assistant Managing Engineer Bhaskar Rao tried to question them, Shivkumar allegedly threatened him. The group beat him up and when he lost consciousness, the assailants fled. Thimmegowda regained consciousness only five hours later. During the assault, the assailants repeatedly said that Shivkumar was a supporter of the minister.
