Veteran actor Mohan Babu, well into his 60s, recently shot a daredevil action sequence for the film Gayatri, which is being directed by Madan Ramigani.

Confirming this through a statement, the stunt choreographer Kanal Kannan revealed, “It was an absolute delight to direct an obsessive artist like him and see him perform.”

According to inputs from IANS, Mohan Babu underwent a lot of training to ensure that risks were minimised and his enthusiasm was evident all through the shooting. The stunts were filmed at the famous Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad.

A statement from the filmmakers further revealed, “Nero Motion Control rig is being used for adding visual effects in Gayatri, in which Mohan Babu plays the hero as well as the villain. This rig is used to capture the fight sequence between the two of them.” Reports indicate that this fight sequence will be canned in 11 days, of which the team had completed eight days’ shoot so far.

Mohan Babu plays a pivotal role in Gayatri, which has his son Vishnu Manchu playing the lead role and Shriya Saran playing the female lead.

According to sources close to the team, the shooting of Gayatri had to be stalled for a few days following the birth of Vishnu Manchu’s son. The team has almost wrapped up the shooting and the film is expected to hit the silver screens on February 9th.

Reports from the Gayatri team suggest that the fight sequence featuring Mohan Babu would be the highlight of the movie as it would be a visual spectacle to see the 67-year-old in action added to the VFX effects.

Mohan Babu’s last film was Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu which released a couple of years ago. With the father and son sharing screen space, movie buffs are waiting eagerly for Gayatri to arrive.
