Twitter may remove images of deceased people at families' request

The News Minute | August 20, 2014 | 1.22 pm ISTIn a move that respects individual and family privacy during grief and periods of mourning, Twitter has said it will remove images of dead people in certain circumstances on families’ requests.“In order to respect the wishes of loved ones, Twitter will remove imagers of deceased individuals in certain circumstances,” spokesperson Nu Wexler tweeted.According to a Reuters report, The move comes as the micro messaging site has become the first port of call for all and sundry who take pictures of catastrophes and individual distress with some people even talking selfies of themselves with dead bodies and posting it on Twitter. Twitter will however exercise judgement on matters it considers of public interest while removing images, Reuters reported.
