TN farmers plan a protest outside superstar Rajini’s house over past promises

Written by : TNM Staff

Superstar Rajinikanth has legions of fans awaiting the release of Kabali with bated breath. But it seems some farmers in Tamil Nadu are finally tired of waiting for the actor to deliver on a 14-year-old promise made to them.

If reports are anything to go by, these TN farmers are planning to stage a protest in front of the superstar’s house.

According to reports, a representative of the farmers’ group, Ayyakannu, claimed that Rajinikanth had pledged during the Cauvery river dispute in 2002 to personally donate Rs 1 crore to help Tamil farmers in distress. However, even after 14 years the actor has made no such contribution.

During the dispute, many Tamil actors chose to join the protest against the Karnataka government. According to Ayyakannu, Rajinikanth had met the then Governor and had promised to contribute funds. However, since he failed to keep his promise, an organization named Desiya Thenmaanila Nadhigal Inaippu Vivasaayigal Sangam, headed by Ayyakannu, has threatened to protest against the actor.
