The News Minute | March 17, 2015 | 05:36 pm IST On Monday Christine Lagarde, the Chief of the International Monetary Fund, interacted with students of a top college in Delhi. The session was moderated by NDTV’s Prannoy Roy. However, what caught the attention of social media users was a particular question asked by a student to Lagarde.The IMF chief during her interaction had said “Indian economy to grow by 7.5 per cent in the 2015/16 fiscal year”. The student then asked Lagarde if the growth rate would be reserved for “Hindu males” and also cited “increasing trends of communalism and patriarchy” since the government came to power.The student, who wishes to remain anonymous, has since been a target of many on Twitter who have vehemently attacked her."I believe that most of the people who are commenting haven't really seen the whole interview so they are taking my comment out of context and portraying me as anti Indian," the student told The News Minute. "I believe that their comments come from deep seated ignorance and insecurity about the fact that someone is questioning the whole development paradigm on which the new government came to power. I am attaching a screen shot of my Facebook status which hopefully will clarify certain allegations that the question was planted by NDTVand I am an agent working for AAP (sic)", the student added.
