Aathmika, the television anchor turned actress, made a promising debut in campus drama Meesaya Murukku, which turned out to be a runaway hit, cementing her place in the industry. The young actress was well appreciated for her performance from all quarters.

Impressed with her work, she has been signed on for Dhruvangal 16 director Karthick Naren’s next, Naragasooran, which also stars Arvind Swami, Indrajith Sukumaran, Shriya Saran and Sundeep Kishan. She is thrilled to be part of such a big project so early on in her career.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, she said, “It’s a performance-oriented role and I’m glad that Karthick saw potential in me. Recently, I got a call from the Naragasooran team and after an audition; I was selected for the role. It is a suspense drama — and to share screen space with a seasoned actor like Arvind Swami is a dream come true for me. It is a unique script with no songs.”

The project starts rolling from September 15 in Ooty, and will be predominantly shot inside a house. It’s tipped to be a horror-thriller to be wrapped up in 45 days flat. Aathmika is said to be paired with Sundeep in the film. Apparently, Sundeep’s role was originally supposed to be played by Naga Chaitanya, who backed out at the last minute, due to reasons yet unknown. Going by the film’s first poster which was released in June, it’s said to be the story of a fallen demon. The film is a multilingual and will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Ron Yohaan is composing the music.
