'Kaala' will have political references, Pa Ranjith reveals

Written by : Digital Native

Superstar Rajinikanth can finally breathe a sigh of relief, sit back and relax as he has completed shooting for both his upcoming projects, 2.0 and Kaala.

Interestingly, the principal shooting for both these films was completed last week and the teams have already started with the post-production work.

While it’s known that 2.0, a magnum opus from Shankar, is gearing up for January 2018 release, it has been learnt that Kaala will hit the screens next April. The film will apparently have a very strong political angle and will address the issue of oppressed Tamils.

According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, director Pa. Ranjith, while addressing a gathering in Madurai recently, revealed that Kaala has political references and confirmed that they’re planning to get the film to theatres in April 2018.

In Kaala, produced by Dhanush, the superstar plays a slum-lord-turned-gangster and he will be seen in a very powerful role. The film is tipped to be made as a Tamil-Hindi bilingual and will also be dubbed in Telugu.

The project marks the reunion of director Pa. Ranjith with Rajinikanth after Kabali. Santhosh Narayan is scoring the music, while Sreekar Prasad will take care of the editing. Also starring Nana Patekar as a politician and Pankaj Tripathi as a cop, the film includes Anjali Patil, Huma Qureshi and Samuthirakani.
